“Compression socks are part of an active life”

Over the past fifteen years, compression socks have gone from being purely a medical aid to becoming a product used by more and more people in everyday life – during travel, exercise, pregnancy, or long workdays. We sat down with Trust Care’s Chief Operating Officer, Peter Blom, as the company launches its first series of compression socks.

Peter, why is Trust Care launching compression socks?

“We already have a customer base that trusts our mobility aids and has been asking for more products that make everyday life simpler and more active. At the same time, we’re seeing compression socks becoming a natural part of many people’s routines. Not just for those with medical needs, but also for anyone wanting to prevent swelling or fatigue in their legs. These products fit very naturally into our offering, so the launch feels both logical and long-awaited.”

How has the market changed?

“It’s a completely different category today than it was fifteen years ago. Back then, people talked about support stockings, and they were often associated with healthcare and rehabilitation. Now, young people wear them on flights, office workers wear them under their trousers, and runners use compression socks for better performance and recovery. Sweden was an early adopter and remains one of the biggest markets. There’s broad understanding of what compression does for the body, which makes it easier to launch high-quality products.”

What distinguishes Trust Care’s compression socks?

“We’ve chosen to manufacture our socks in Italy with a producer who has extensive experience in medical compression. They are Class 1, meaning 15–21 mmHg, which is a level suitable for most users. The socks are made of microfiber, making them soft, flexible, and cool – the perfect mix of comfort and style. Most importantly, they are much easier to put on and take off than many socks made from traditional materials. They work just as well in summer as in winter, and that was important to us. Later on, we’ll add compression socks in different materials to offer more options depending on occasion and temperature.”

What are the biggest benefits of using compression socks?

“For most people, it’s about reducing swelling and fatigue in the legs, but they also help prevent varicose veins and blood clots. Compression promotes blood circulation, which helps you maintain your energy longer – whether you’re on a plane, standing in a store all day, exercising or pregnant. Many people notice a difference the very first time they try them. It’s a very small effort that has a big impact on your well-being.”

How do the socks actually work?

“Compression socks use graduated pressure – firmest at the ankle and decreasing upward. This helps the blood flow back toward the heart. Putting them on in the morning before your legs have had time to swell gives the best results. For many, it quickly becomes a routine that makes a big difference in how their legs feel throughout the day.”

How do you see Trust Care’s position going forward?

“We have a strong international network of retailers and a good reputation in the industry. This allows us to grow quickly while building a product range that appeals to both our current customers and new, younger users. We see compression socks as a natural part of Trust Care’s future offering.”
